Well done and good luck to our ladies who have been selected to represent at the Hockey Australia Masters Women’s National Championships in Surfers Paradise from 26 Sept to 5 October. Maitland has a large contingent of players attending: Congratulations to Joan Hart, Sals Rolfe, Trish McMillan, Jillian McLaughlin, Kate Ryan, Kerry Kempton, Louise New, Cathy Diamond, Amanda Beukes, Neridah Busch and Janna Purdon. Best wishes for a wonderful tournament!

Women’s Grand Finals 7/9/19

Congratulations to the women’s teams on their hard-fought Grand Final matches, which resulted in wins to Hornets in the A Grade and Norths Black in the B Grade.

The women have decided to donate their trophy money to “Johey’s Battle for a Cure”, which will assist the Basedow family as they support their son and brother Johannes (Johey) Basedow through his treatment for DSRCT (Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour), which is a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Johey’s sister Isabella plays in Maitland Hockey Inc Under 13’s competition and Johey and his Dad play hockey for Maitland Rams. A bucket collection was also taken at the Grand Finals, which will be added to the donation. Thank you to all who contributed.

Congratulations to Hornets: Hornets Captain Sals Rolfe holds the A Grade Major Premiers’ trophy. Hornets were also A Grade Minor Premiers and were undefeated this season.
Congratulations to Rustlers: A Grade Finalists
Congratulations to Norths Black: B Grade Major and Minor Premiers
Congratulations to Rebels: B Grade Finalists

Under 13’s

What a wonderful night we had on Wednesday night for the under 13’s grand final and playoff. It was great to see most players for each team there on the night.

Both games were very tight which shows just how far all the kids have come with the development of their skills! As Sally said on the night, moving the games to full field following the end of the other junior competitions has been a great success!

North White and Kookaburras finished in a 1 all draw.

Royals def North Grey 1-0 following extra time drop off golden goal, with the goal literally being scored in the last second!

A big congratulations to Royals who took out both the minor and major premiership this season.

Also a big thank you to Sally, Ros, Honey and all the other volunteers who do countless hours of work behind the scenes so that the junior competitions can go ahead.

Don’t forget about summer comp! Otherwise hopefully we will see you all again next season.

Ps. I’m having trouble uploading the team photos here so I’ll put them on the Facebook page.

Under 13’s – Publication of team photos

I would like to publish the team photos that were taken tonight at the presentation. I would just post the team photos, no names would be mentioned. If you do not wish for your child’s photo to be published please let me know by 6pm tomorrow (Thursday 5 September). You can email me on

In preparation of the upcoming official opening of our new facilities at the Hockey Centre there will be a working bee held this Thursday 5 September 2019 from 8.00am. If you are able to, please come along and lend a hand for a hour or 2.

Rustlers and Bluebees were 1 all at full time. The game went into extra time and still resulted in a draw so Rustlers advance to the grand final as there were placed higher in the point score.

North’s Black 6 def Blues 1.
