NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

So, it is the ideal week for us to recognise the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to Hockey generally, as well as to our Association as Members and to our Community overall.

A NAIDOC celebration will be held at the Maitland Hockey Centre during Round 12, 1st July 2023 with an Acknowledgement of Country performed before each game to acknowledge the Wonnarua, Awabakal, Darkinjung, Worimi and Geawegal Peoples as the traditional custodians of the lands on which we play and live. The 2023 National NAIDOC Week Poster will also be on display at the ground.

While a relatively small event this year, our hope is to build it into an annual event with your support, so please reach out if you’d like to be more involved or have ideas – we’d love to hear from you!
