Training
Umpires qualification has now been taken over by the national body of hockey Australia, please see the HockeyEd site for more information.
There are currently five umpire accreditations
- Community Umpire
- Beginner Umpire
- Development Umpire
- Advanced Umpire
- National Umpire
through out 2010 I will be endeavouring to get all umpires at the MHA to at least a Community umpire, which costs nothing to become and has a online theory and a practical component.
The Association will also be looking at sponsoring promising umpires to help them gain higher accreditation. If you would like further information please contact me.
First Aid Training
The umpire is usually one of the first people who is required to asses an on field incident, during 2010 we will also be looking at appropriate courses for umpires to help them back the right decision when faced with an injury of a player.
